About me
I’m an author with a particular interest in regions of the ex -Soviet Union, having lived for extended periods in Georgia, Estonia and Russia.
I’ve contributed to various publications including the Telegraph, the Guardian and Wanderlust Magazine. I’ve appeared on BBC Radio and Talk Radio Europe.
As far as I’m aware I’m the first person to drive a Type 2 VW Campervan across the Russian Federation (from Narva to Vladivostok) A journey recounted in my book – ‘One Steppe Beyond.’

In 2018 I went to St Petersburg and set out on the long road to becoming a 'competent' potter. A journey documented in my book 'Thousand Revolutions' - which will be available early next year (2026)
